Acts of stealing in Aden; cautious calm in Sanaa

Acts of theft erupted in the coastal Yemeni city of Aden on Friday, two days after acts of violence in various parts of the country in protest of the increase n the fuel price.

Witnesses said that the theft acts took place Friday evening in the main trade center in the city and the poor Sheikh Othman area, despite an intensive presence of the army forces.

According to the recent statistics for the victims of the acts of protests against the price increase of oil byproducts, the number increased to 39 including four security members men while other 50 persons were injured and several trade shops and government offices were damaged or burnt.

The security forces are still deployed intensively in Sanaa and other cities amid fears of renewed confrontations between the angry demonstrators and the police forces, but matters tension down following the end of Friday's prayers.

The Yemeni al-Awqaf ministry called on preachers of Friday's prayers to calm down citizens and called them not to be dragged to acts of rioting and violence.
